Privacy policy
Share It Forward is run by Sondra Hathaway. It lets people create a QR code that opens a page where anyone can share a ready-made post on LinkedIn, X or Facebook. This policy explains what information Share It Forward collects and what happens to it. To ask a question or have your information deleted, use the contact details on deepseafauna.com.
If you scan a QR code
- You don't need an account, and Share It Forward doesn't ask for your name or contact details.
- Share It Forward doesn't use advertising or analytics trackers, and it doesn't set cookies on the share pages.
- When you tap a platform, the post text is copied to your device's clipboard. It stays on your device.
- Anything you post happens on LinkedIn, X or Facebook, under their own privacy policies. Share It Forward doesn't receive your posts or your social media account details. When Facebook returns you to Share It Forward after sharing, it only tells us whether the share was completed or cancelled, so we know whether to show a thank-you.
If you apply for access
We keep the name, email address and answers you give on the application form, so we can review your request and send you an invite link. Requests we don't approve are kept only as long as needed to avoid duplicates.
If you have an account
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled form (a salted hash) that can't be turned back into the password.
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID. We don't receive your Google password or anything else in your Google account.
- Your campaigns: the text, links, images and other details you enter. These are public, because anyone with the QR code can see the share page.
- Sign-in cookie: one cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It isn't used for anything else.
- Drafts: unsaved campaign text is kept in your own browser until you save or discard it. It isn't sent to us.
Where information is stored
Share It Forward runs on Cloudflare, which stores the database and images and handles every request. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses and keeps short-term logs to run and protect the service. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers above, or when the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep account and campaign information while your account exists. Ask us and we'll delete your account and campaigns. Posts that people have already shared stay on the social platforms where they were posted, and only those platforms or the people who posted them can remove them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
